ORBIT PLUG VALVE MANUFACTURER IN ITALY
Valvesonly Europe is the leading Lubricated plug valve manufacturer in Italy. An orbit plug valve is a type of industrial valve used to control the flow of fluids in pipelines. It is specifically designed for applications where a tight shut-off is required.

Working Principle:

The key component of the orbit plug valve is the plug, which can be rotated within the valve body to control the flow of fluid. When the plug is rotated to an open position, the fluid can flow through the valve, and when it is rotated to a closed position, the flow is blocked.

The sealing is achieved by the contact between the plug and the valve seat. This design allows for a tight shut-off, making it suitable for applications where leakage is not acceptable.

Structural Features:

Body and Bonnet: The valve typically has a cylindrical body and bonnet. The body houses the plug and serves as the main pressure-containing component.
Plug: The plug is a cylindrical or conical-shaped component that can be rotated within the valve to control the flow of fluid. It has a through-hole, which aligns with the pipe to allow the flow of fluid when open or obstructs it when closed.
Ports: Orbit plug valves have two or more ports, which are openings in the valve body that connect to the pipeline. The arrangement of these ports determines the flow configuration (e.g., two-way, three-way, or multiport).
Sealing Mechanism: The sealing mechanism is crucial for preventing leakage. Orbit plug valves commonly use elastomeric or metal seals, which make contact with the plug and the body to create a tight seal when the valve is closed.
Actuator Connection: These valves can be operated manually or through an actuator. Actuators, such as electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic actuators, can be attached to the valve for remote and automated control.
Materials: Orbit plug valves are often made of materials suitable for specific application, including carbon steel, stainless steel, or other alloys, depending on the nature of the fluid and the operating conditions.
The operation of an Orbit plug valve is based on the rotation of the plug within the valve body. The key steps in the operation principle are as follows:

Open Position: When the valve is in the open position, the plug is rotated to align the through-hole with the ports, allowing the fluid to flow through the valve and the pipeline.
Closed Position: To close the valve, the plug is rotated to a position where the through-hole is perpendicular to the ports, blocking the flow of fluid. The sealing mechanism ensures a tight seal to prevent any leakage.
Intermediate Positions: Some plug valves have intermediate positions that allow for partial opening or throttling of the flow. This is achieved by partially rotating the plug to control the flow rate.
Actuation: If the valve is equipped with an actuator, it can be controlled remotely or automatically to open, close, or modulate the flow based on the system requirements.
