Three-piece ball valves are made up of a body, two end caps, and one piece. The main body section of the pipe can be readily removed for cleaning or repair without removing the end caps, which are usually threaded or welded to the pipe. Because it averts a line shutdown in the event that maintenance is necessary, this can be a very beneficial choice.

A three-piece ball valve regulates fluid flow inside a pipeline or system by means of a spherical closure mechanism. The valve is made up of two end caps, or bonnets, that are connected together, and a central body piece. A spherical ball with a hole (port) through its center is located inside the valve body. The ball’s port is perpendicular to the flow direction when the valve is closed, preventing fluid passage. When the valve is in the open position, fluid can pass through because the handle or actuator attached to the ball moves it, aligning the port with the inlet and outflow ports of the valve body.
